30,474 CALON PMR DAPAT SEMUA ‘A’ Seramai 30,474 atau 6.92 peratus daripada 481,424 calon yang menduduki peperiksaan Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR) 2012, mendapat gred A dalam semua mata pelajaran. Gred Purata Mata Pelajaran, tujuh mata pelajaran iaitu Bahasa Melayu, Sejarah, Geografi, Kemahiran Hidup Bersepadu, Pendidikan Kesenian, Bahasa Tamil dan Bahasa Punjabi menunjukkan peningkatan prestasi.
Bahasa Melayu menunjukkan peningkatan prestasi sebanyak 0.04 mata, namun prestasi Bahasa Inggeris, Sains dan Matematik menunjukkan penurunan masing-masing 0.12 mata, 0.02 mata dan 0.01 mata. Pencapaian secara keseluruhannya dalam 17 mata pelajaran stabil dengan indeks Gred Putara Nasional kekal pada 2.1 mata seperti 2011.
RARE CAT FILMED UP CLOSE IN SABAH One of the world’s most rare and elusive cats, the Sunda clouded leopard has been filmed up close at the Danum Valley in Sabah by a biologist holidaying there. Dr Jyrki Hokkanen, a keen wildlife videographer captured unique footage of a young female leopard resting in the forest. Previously, this top predator has only been filmed fleetingly and at a distance, with the first wild footage to be made public captured in 2010. Star Trek: The Exhibition is open to the public from now until March 31st next year. And among the items featured include the largest collection of artifacts, costumes and actual props used on the set from the five television series and 11 feature films.

“We saw an unusually big pair of eyes about ten metres ahead. The eyes pointed at us and did not move and a round face was just about visible in the flashlight. I began to film the animal which then moved through the vegetation and disappeared. “I knew it had been a cat,” he said. “It could not have been anything other than the Sunda clouded leopard.”
Dr Hokkanen, his wife and guide continued forward on the trail they were walking, in an attempt to find the animal again when they an eye shine appeared very low and he began to film it. Experts later confirmed that it was the Sunda clouded leopard which faces an uncertain future and its habitat need to be conserved.
