lessings to you for this new year. A new beginning. A natural break in the tempo of our lives. A perfect opportu-

nity to recharge and regenerate. What do you want this new year to bring to you? Imagine

what your year would look like if, at the end of the year, ev- erything you hoped would happen turned out even better than expected. Everything: your health, finances, career, relationships, dreams and goals. Here’s a fun exercise. Take 10 minutes (or more) and day-

dream about your perfect life. You’ve reached all your goals. You’re living a fulfilled and joyous life in however that looks and brings happiness to you: financial independence, travel, philanthropy, entrepreneurship, owning a hobby farm, climbing Mt. Everest. Now, think about what dreams and goals you will embark upon after you’ve reached all the dreams and goals you have now. That’s what I’m talking about. So often we think that “we will be happy when,” but there is always a next level,

a new challenge, a new dream. Then when we look back at a chapter in our lives, we think that it was a happier, more carefree time. Or we see in retrospect that we should have been happier. But we all know what it mostly depends upon: health. There are so many health is- sues that can keep us from living productive and vibrant lives. You know the old saying, “You don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone.” By reading Natural Awakenings, you’re educating yourself on how to enhance and improve your body and mind, and therefore your life. I know this magazine has helped me. Here are some of the ways I’ve grown in the

last year through articles, workshops or people I’ve met: • Weekly journaling, meditating and visualization (I hope this will become daily) • My first three-day cleanse (I didn’t think I could do this; I was wrong.) • My first Reiki massage (I loved it and highly recommend it; I will be doing this again.)

• New foods in my diet: chia seeds, cultured whey and more vegetables • Meatless Mondays (I’m giving my body a break while helping the planet by eating less meat.)

• Toastmasters’ membership (I would like to be a more engaging speaker)

Here are some of my goals for 2013: • Live a life of daily heartfelt gratitude • Lose 25 pounds through daily exercise, trying new activities (cross-country skiing, kickboxing, aerial yoga) and making time for my favorites (walking, swimming, ping-pong)

• Attend a weekend retreat • Continue to work on 2012 accomplishments • Take Natural Awakenings to the next level

How has your life improved in 2012? What are your dreams and goals for 2013?
