After taking the Inventory and Portion Controls course, we implemented "bagging" our 2 oz's of meats that go on salads. Salads are a large part of our menu (about 30% of gross revenue) and being on target with portion control is important. In the last 45 days, we have seen our COG's for the salad's drop 3% - a rather large decrease. At this rate, we will save about $3,000 per year on food costs just from salads.

Bowling University’s Online Training and Management Certification Program is the first virtual learning platform available to the bowling industry and was awarded the Maryland Distance Learning Association’s Program of the Year for 2011. Tis program allows proprietors, managers and bowling center employees from around the world to come together in a virtual classroom and learn how to operate their centers more profitably.
Trough a partnership with Anne Arundel Community College, we have developed college-level classes that address the operational
responsibilities of a bowling or entertainment center manager and employees. Tese classes are
broken down into a variety of topic areas including: Sales and Marketing, Food and Beverage, Facility Maintenance, Finance, Customer Service, Human Resources, Entertainment Income, Supervisory Skills, and Leadership.
Online education is quickly becoming the standard in higher education. Today, 1 in every 6 students enrolled in college will participate in online learning. In fact, a 2009 U.S. Department of Education study found that students taking online classes outperformed students receiving face-to-face instruction. Tis is your opportunity to get involved in an educational program that will change the way the industry operates.
It is the vision of Bowling University to raise the bar regarding how bowling centers are operated and to create new standards that improve the public’s opinion of bowling. Through your help, we can create a better educated workforce and improve the profitability of the business of bowling.
