• RSM Tenon has announced five new partners and directors in the south. Promoted to partner, ATA division are Mayulee Pinkerton, in audit based in Reading and Duncan Stocks, in tax and heads up the VAT team. Promoted to partner, risk management, is Simon Evans, in the corporate risk advisory team, focusing on the corporate market and leads the enterprise risk management & governance team. Promoted to director are Chris Newell, in the corporate recovery team based in Marlow and David Taylor, in the corporate recovery team based in Reading.


• Three lawyers at leading Thames Valley legal firm B P Collins LLP have been promoted to the rank of senior associate from November 1. It’s a double triumph for Sarah McLoughlin (left) from the property litigation team, who has just been named for the first time in the 2013 Chambers UK Guide as an “associate to watch” in real estate litigation. McLoughlin who joined B P Collins in February 2011, has a strong track record in the legal industry and was previously employed by a number of large city law firms. Her work across both the commercial and residential property sectors includes handling landlord and tenant disputes. Also stepping up within the family law team is Fran Hipperson (right), who qualified as a solicitor in 2006. A member of Resolution and specialising in complex financial and children disputes following a relationship breakdown, Hipperson joined B P Collins in September 2011 from well-known London firm Payne Hicks Beach. The third promotion is for commercial property specialist Alison Taylor (centre), who joined B P Collins from London law firm Speechly Bircham in February this year. Taylor has extensive experience in a wide range of commercial property matters and has quickly become an integral part of Michael Larcombe’s team.


• Accountancy and business advisory firm BDO LLP has appointed a former London partner, Danny Dartnaill, as the partner to lead its business restructuring team in the Thames Valley. Dartnaill has specialised in insolvency, business restructuring and turnaround work for more than 12 years and has spent the past nine years working from the firm’s London office. He will work closely alongside business restructuring directors Tim Townley, Andy Smith, David Smithson and Matthew Fox.


• NVM Private Equity has appointed Charlie Pidgeon to its investment team. He will be working from NVM's Reading office alongside the NVM directors to help generate new investment opportunities and manage NVM’s existing portfolio across the UK. Pidgeon joins NVM from PwC’s corporate finance practice where he was responsible for advising on M&A transactions in a range of sectors. He has over six years experience with PwC, having advised on deals such as the sale of HomeSun to Aviva Investors, the sale of Tekmar Energy to Elysian Capital; and Jardine Motors’ acquisition of Wayside


• Lloyds Bank Wholesale Banking & Markets, the division which supports mid-market businesses and large corporates, has bolstered its Thames Valley operations with the appointment of Richard Colclough from Santander UK. He joins Lloyds Bank as a relationship director and will be part of a 25-strong team based in Reading. The team provides advice and funding solutions to Thames Valley businesses with a turnover of £15 million and above. Prior to joining Lloyds Bank, Colclough was part of the Santander UK team that established the bank’s Thames Valley office. He has more than 10 years corporate banking experience, with particular expertise in corporate real estate and private equity transactions.


• The Griffins team of chartered accountants and financial advisers has welcomed Peter Jones to its branch in Newbury, where he will be overseeing the firm’s taxation offering to individuals and companies. He previously worked for H M Revenue & Customs and more latterly spent eight years at Chantrey Vellacott where he was responsible for providing tax advice to both individuals and businesses. A chartered tax adviser, Jones brings a wealth of experience to the tax teams based in Newbury and Reading. Dealing directly with a range of clients he will be identifying and implementing appropriate tax planning for companies, unincorporated businesses, individuals and trust clients as well as managing the firms tax compliance function to ensure tax obligations are met in an efficient and timely manner.

• Phil Hinson has taken the role of corporate finance lead of PwC’s South East region. Hinson will have responsibility for deal origination and advising clients on transactions across the region working closely with the team of 100+ specialist deal professionals. He brings with him over 12 years corporate finance and private equity experience. Hinson returns to the ‘Big Four’ professional services firm having begun his career with PwC in 1996. He qualified as a chartered accountant in 1999 before spending over six years in the firm’s corporate finance team in London. In 2006, he joined Sovereign Capital Partners, a mid-market private equity house, where he was responsible for originating and leading a number of transactions together with acting as a non-executive director of portfolio companies. He rejoins PwC to provide the South East region with direct experience of supporting management teams in delivering their buy and build strategies.
