HW Young Entrepreneur winners lift Thames Valley business
Chartered accountants Haines Watts has announced that the HW Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2012 title has been awarded to Dale Barrett, co-owner of Inside Out Developments
Judging by the excellent standard of the finalists, the Thames Valley region can be proud and confident that its young people have what it takes to help grow the economy.
The finals of the HW Young Entrepreneur of the Year competition were held in Reading on November 1 and were the most closely fought in the event’s history. The superb finalists, who represented each of the five Haines Watts offices in the Thames Valley, were: Dale Barrett for Oxford, Marcus Davies for Slough, Ollie Rastall for Farnborough/ Basingstoke, Mike Robinson for Reading and Jez Rose for High Wycombe.
Guest judges were David Murray, founder, MD and publisher of The Business Magazine and Simon Biltcliffe, who founded and is MD of Webmart, a world-leader in print management. They were joined by Haines Watts’ judges John Bailey,
Simon Garrett, Jane Gregory, Gary Heywood and Amandeep Duhra.
Chairman of the judges, HW partner John Bailey said: “The extremely high- calibre of the finalists was a delight and made choosing just one winner a bit of a headache. They all gave a ‘Dragon’s Den’ style presentation on their business and were asked searching questions relating to finances and prospects.”
The winner’s business, Inside Out Developments, is based in Bicester, Oxfordshire, and is a construction and refurbishment company, undertaking all aspects of building works from electrical and plumbing to kitchen and bathrooms. Barrett is also an inventor and is bringing a commercial product to market.
The other finalists’ businesses were: Marcus Davies – Integrella, which automates and integrates business processes and systems; Ollie Rastall

The participants also heard inspiring presentations from Simon
Biltcliffe and David Murray about their entrepreneurial experiences at the event, as well as from Vanessa Lanham-Day of marketing consultancy CProject and the Entrepreneur’s Circle.
In these tough times, the HWYE finalists truly gave hope that UK business is alive and kicking.
