DYNAMIC BUSINESS DELOITTE

AWARD Winner: PRISYM ID

Taking the highly-acclaimed title of Dynamic Business of the Year, sponsored by Deloitte, was PRISYM ID, specialists and market leaders in the design and delivery of validated labelling solutions for organisations that need complete product auto-identification and lifecycle traceability.

In its winning entry, the PRISYM ID team told the judges that one of its biggest challenges had been to convince large US corporates that a small British company based in the Thames Valley could be world leaders and they should place their trust in them.

They clearly succeeded however and now the company, headquartered in Wokingham where it manufactures its flagship product PRISYM Medica, has a £6.6 million turnover and employs a team of 70, including 10 in the US, where many of those large corporates are now customers.

A delighted Mick Daw, CEO of PRISYM ID, (pictured holding certificate) said: “We are thrilled to have received the Dynamic Business Award. The fact the judges were unanimous in their decision makes it even more exciting. The quality of any achievement is established by the quality of the competition and to win in the Thames Valley with a myriad of prestigious companies is fantastic.

“This award has been won by the team – management and staff. Their dedication and commitment is tremendous and for us to get public recognition is just reward. We

have come a long way since 2004 when the management team purchased the company from administration and for us to be world leaders in our sector demonstrates the resilience of the business and the quality of our products and services.

“Despite our success, this is not the end of the story. We are determined to build on this and win the award in future years to come."

PRISYM ID’s core customer base is within the medical device market, where accurate labelling is a vital necessity and companies are subject to strict country specific regulations.

With an international focus on increasing patient safety and organisational efficiency, PRISYM ID’s labelling solution is an essential tool to help medical device manufacturers reduce risk and provide complete lifecycle traceability.

Through its comprehensive range of labelling software, the company also provides solutions to other sectors including life sciences, automotive, chemical and industrial manufacturing. It has been hugely successful in a difficult financial climate and highly competitive market, something recognised by the judges, who were looking to reward companies who have demonstrated creativity, innovation and the ability to adapt.

Mike Thorne, lead partner, private markets Thames Valley at Deloitte, who presented the award to Daw, said: “The Deloitte Dynamic Business Award has once again proved to

be highly attractive to ambitious businesses, resulting in a very high standard of finalists. This year they range across sectors that include consumer products, manufacturing, business services as well as TMT.

“The Deloitte independent judges felt that all finalists had highly dynamic qualities with PRISYM ID showing enormous resilience and ambition to turn the business into a market leader from inauspicious circumstances. This has included innovation and investment in new services as well as making a fundamental shift in the strategic direction of the business. The company now produces mission critical software for the very largest global businesses in a heavily regulated sector.

“PRISYM ID is a beacon of world leading achievement in extremely challenging circumstances and a worthy winner of the 2012 Deloitte Dynamic Business Award.”

Six companies had lined up as finalists for the award and second place went to Star from Theale, a managed services company and cloud computing expert. In third place was leading torque specialist Norbar Torque Tools, while highly commended certificates went to Fiddes Payne, Prodec and Volume.
