Head’s Ofsted delight

HEAD of Swadelands School, Richard Baddeley, says he is de- lighted that Ofsted inspectors have recognised the strengths of the school. He says the “good” rating, which follows a satisfactory rat- ing at the previous inspection, is testament to the hard work from students, staff, governors and parents. Inspectors found students

made good progess, which was reflected in their examination results. Teaching was typically good, and in some cases outstanding,

and teachers used their skills and subject knowledge well. The sixth form offered a flexi-

ble range of subject choices, and examination results continued to rise as a result. Strong relationships between teachers and students helped to create a positive climate for learning, and behaviour and safety was good. Mr Baddeley said: “At Swade-

lands School, everybody works together to ensure success, and to hear Ofsted commend the school for this is very encourag- ing. I was particularly pleased

for the students, who were judged to “have positive atti- tudes to learning and partici- pate in lessons effectively”. They do this day-in, day-out, andtoget thecredittheyde- serve is very satisfying. “I was also very pleased for

the staff – we are a strong team and this inspection demon- strates the strength and unity we have at the school. We will continue to strive for the best for our students and this report shows that we have good progress on our journey to out- standing.”
