Is Spring the time to sell? W

e are pleased to report that my company has agreed more sales this October than it has done in any month in the last three and a half years . This comes despite more gloomy reports from the financial institutions, the Governor of the Bank Of England and the property gurus. So what can we glean from this situation? There are obviously buyers about although the price needs to be set correctly for a deal to be done.


I hear time after time from potential vendors saying they won’t be coming to the market until the Spring because that’s the best time to sell your house. Unfortunately, there can be an influx of property that comes to the market in Spring which can then deflate prices. The buyers are out there now. If you are looking to move, the sooner you put your house on the market, the better. We do not see house prices rising for some time to come. It will probably be ‘steady as she goes’ with prices remaining flat.


With the property market struggling for direction, some suggest it faces a bleak winter ahead, while others tip a gentle return to growth. At the moment, better mortgage deals are bumping up against house prices that are flat or on the slide.


As we head rapidly towards Christmas, our busy selling period has continued into the middle of November. Things are likely to quieten off over Christmas, but the buyers remain keen to view. As ever, properly priced, good and well presented property will sell. So if you are a potential vendor thinking Spring is the time to hit the market, do it now instead!
