the festivities and see in the New Year in truly spectacular style.

Another excellent filmic outing that comes highly

recommended is Emma Watson’s first ‘grown-up’ foray into Hollywood. ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower’ is what is usually described as a ‘coming-of-age’ rom-com, but it is so much more than that. It has four showings, starting on Sunday 2nd December and is worth a couple of hours of anybody’s time. And finally… In the words of the immortal Douglas Adams, ‘Goodbye,

and thanks for all the fish’. Unfortunately, due to personal pressures etcetcetc blahblahblah, Janie and I are moving away from Dartmouth to start work in pastures new – at the time of writing, the new pastures are in Chagford – so this will be my last Artful Dodging. So, many thanks for putting up with my ramblings and rants, it has been excellent fun! Hope it’s helped, in some way, to aid your decisions when looking for something to see and enjoy. Personally, I shall still be around and involved in Dartmouth Shakespeare Week (I’d better be, I’m directing next year’s ‘King Lear’) but that, as the saying goes, is your lot! Have a superb Christmas and an entertainment-filled, discovery-laden New Year.• If you’d like to take over Max’ column or provide our readers with an insight into the local arts scene then get in touch with us - email mark@ bythedart.co.uk
