AUSTEN Knapman is a South Devon-based steel stockholder. The family-run business has been established for over 25 years with clients throughout the South West and further afield.


Austen Knapman supplies steel, steel and fibre cement roofing sheets, all types of welding equipment, and accessories to the trade and the public through its Paignton headquarters and also online at www.austenknapman.co.uk. The firm’s main business is steel stockholding and it holds over 1,000 tonnes of steel in


stock and 120 tonnes of roof sheets.


General steels include equal angle, unequal angle, flats, square, rounds and specials, universal beams, universal columns, channel, plates (including cold reduced sheet, hot rolled sheet, galvanized sheet, zintec sheet and durbar sheet), cut and bent reinforcement fabric, open steel flooring, flooring, stair treads, welded mesh and sundry ranges.


Engineering steels include bright carbon, round, square and flat.


Hollow section steels include square, rectangular, circular, ERW steel tube (square, rectangular and circular) and galvanized/black pipe.


Roofing materials can be supplied together with all ancillary fixings and flashings. Austen Knapman’s headquarters, as well as housing a large warehouse, also have a showroom displaying welding equipment, tools and fixings, and are open from 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

customers in diverse industries from house building to farm fabrications and from large civil engineering contractors to small steel fabricators. The business has grown due


largely to the quality of service that it offers, gaining a reliable reputation for supplying the materials required and for having the contacts to seek out the more obscure items that crop up.


Austen Knapman’s transport fleet consists of vehicles ranging from a pick-up truck for hard-to-reach places to a 17-tonne lorry with hi-ab
