The special feature told how Hopkins Concrete has successfully completed the commissioning of its new state- of-the-art batching plant at Wincanton in Somerset. The facility enables the family
company to continue to supply the highest quality service at a competitive price. The 8m3 Erie Strayer bowl mixer, the first of its kind in the South West, provides the most thorough mixing action found in a drum mixer today. As the drum turns in the mixer, the aggregate, water and cement are continually folded back
together to provide a complete uniform coating of the cement paste to the aggregates. The mixing action is so complete and thorough that the mixer has been approved for specification mix times in as little as 30 seconds. Established for more than 30 years, Hopkins Concrete today runs the biggest independent fleet of concrete mixers and articulated trailer mixers in the South West.
