Miranda and Milan are currently jumping at 3 feet, 3 inches and she feels he has the potential for much more. “We’d never push him, but I’d like to go as far as we can,” she says. “I don’t know what he’s going to be good at. Could he go to 5 feet or more? Maybe. I don’t want to set my sights too high, but I do like to dream!” “If I could get him on the A circuit [as a gelding], I could
go to shows at Spruce Meadows and also take him down to the United States,” she adds. More recently, this young rider is also interested in
exploring the world of eventing. She and Milan are now working with a new trainer, Rebecca Perkins, in nearby Salmon Arm, British Columbia, to develop their skills in this new discipline. The arrangement works out especially well, Miranda says, because she attends high school in Salmon Arm and stays with her new trainer several days a week, riding and working in the barn after her school day is done. The partnership of Milan and Miranda might appear
unlikely to some, but the proof is in a happy horse and rider. Clearly, these two have a unique connection that will continue to develop and hopefully bring them much competitive success.
