George Wallace was laid off from his job working

at the massive Savannah River nuclear power site. Two of his sons, Jonathan and Christopher, came home from harrowing military experiences in Afghanistan and Iraq, respectively. All three of them now attend the Myrtle Beach campus of Golf Academy of America and have found new purpose, both as a family and as individuals. “It kind of started as a joke, and then it became a

challenge,” Christopher said. He suggested they attend Golf Academy of America after seeing an advertisement on the Golf Channel. “It feels like it was meant to be that all of us are now together here. We’re still a family, and that’s nice. Our dad is our best friend, and he’s helped us through a lot. We’re proud of him for being here.” George is thinking he might use his new education to pursue a job as a clubfitter. Jonathan, a gregarious and affable sort, is perfectly suited for a sales position. Chris, who has lost 100 pounds but is still a big man at 6’3” and 255 pounds, would like to be a professional golfer. Tey and their fellow students all stand an excellent chance of finding prosperity and fulfillment in the golf industry, as Golf Academy of America boasts a placement rate of over 80 percent. Whether coming from an initial career, a military background or high school or a traditional college, stu-

dents at Golf Academy of America find common ground and lean on each other’s perspective, shared purpose and life experience to forge an education that prepares them to leave as important a mark on the golf industry as their alma mater, Golf Academy of America, leaves on them.
