those countries, while in this one, we usher reluctantly into it with the only consolation being several glossy magazines promising us good news, then telling us it’s that we can now include maroon in our Autumn palette. Hardly a big feckin whoop, in my eyes. In Germany, they make beer drinking a positive enforcement in the month with Oktoberfest, which, for me, conjures the words snitzel, strudel, stroopwafels and all those curious delectables. Te Americans need no excuse for a party and Hallowe’en is enough justification for extra candies, pumpkin pie and dressing up like a banshee / Joan Rivers’ old flesh tissue / Sarah Palin. Here, you’re more likely to get tricked than treated, and if you see something strange sitting on doorstep, it’s probably some drunken jacked-up-o’lantern rather than a glowing pumpkin. But you know what we do have? Norwich Sound and Vision - the three day music conference and festival - and the semi-final heats of our Future Radio, Outline and OPEN competition, the Next Big Ting. So what we lack in cookie molds, we more than make up for in the hell yeah rock factor. Stick that in your log burner and roast it.
