Congratulations to Cindy Lytle and Howard Harris, who were married on September 8 at the Lytle family’s Otasaga Farm in Dickerson. T e couple (on left) is pictured here with the bride’s parents Edna and Bert Lytle.


Maryland Will Miss


Raymond W. Kline of Myersville died on August 24 at the age of 78. He was an Army paratrooper and served in Germany and Korea. Over the years, Kline’s farm included dairy cattle, longhorn cattle, sheep and Percheron horses. For 10 years, he was the wagonmaster for the an- nual National Pike Days, which was a wagon drive from Clear Spring to Boonsboro. He participated in many parades and events with his covered wagon pulled by either horses or mules. Outside of farming, Kline served as Washington County


Congratulations to J.M. Littleton, who trains out of By Chance Farm in Union Bridge, on her engagement to Lieutenant Commander Sean Costello of New York.


Connor West Sobota was born on August 25 to Dr. Justin Sobota of South Mountain Equine and Lisa Hennings.

wife purchased the Maryland T e- atre and Colonial T eatre, which they eventually sold. He owned and operated Ray Kline Roofi ng and Siding in Washington County as well as Kline Awning and Sid- ing Co. in Frederick County. Schnappinger graduated from Catonsville High School before attending the University of Maryland where he graduated with a B.S and M.S. in Agronomy. Schnappinger was heavily involved with the Maryland 4-H pro- gram. He was a 4-H leader for many years, was a Maryland 4-H All Star himself and was on the Maryland 4-H Foundation Board of Di- rectors from 1988 to 2002. He also served as the Queen Anne’s County Fair Chairman for a year and was on the Management Commit- tee for the 4-H Horse Program at the North American International Livestock Exposition from 1997 to 1998. He worked for Geigy Ag- ricultural Chemicals as a fi eld research rep- resentative and stayed with the company as it changed to Syngenta Crop Protection as a senior fi eld researcher. He retired in 2001 but continued to work for them as a part-time con- sultant.
