Calling all video gamers

CORNISH video game fans are being invited to get in- volved in a new project by a Camborne-based video pro- duction company.

Icarus Films, of Lower Pengegon, recently launched the first episode of its new webshow, Killer Bits, a video games review show. As John Brassington, of Icarus, explained: ‘It’s very much a “home grown in Cornwall” sort of project, shot on location in Falmouth, at the Loading cafe/bar and produced by myself, working with local presenters. Even the music was produced by local composer AJ Lornie at Forte Sounds in St Austell.’ Jon said that as well as try-

ing to get the word out about Killer Bits, Icarus is looking to find more local talent in- terested in joining the team. ‘We are looking for any video gaming fans in the county interested in working both in front of or behind the camera.

‘Everyone from filmmak- ers who might might like to help me shoot and edit the monthly shows to animators and designers who can help us put together some ani- mated skits,’ he said.

Anyone interested can check out the show on Icarus’ YouTube channel or get in touch with Jon by email at enquiries@icarus- films.co.uk

Couple’s £148m

A FORMER Hayle man and his wife were the winners of the lat- est £148m EuroMillions prize. Adrian Bayford, 41, and his wife Gillian, 40, now of Haverhill in Suffolk, have two children and run a secondhand record store, the Suffolk Music Centre Shop, with Adrian’s friend, Richard Hudspith, 39.

The family live in a modest de- tatched house in Haverhill. The couple are now richer than Andy Murray, Robert Pattinson, Lewis Hamilton and Adele com- bined.

They have become the 516th richest couple in Britain, and sit above Sir Tom Jones with £140m.

REDYOUTH were able to perform in Victoria Park after the weather improved in the afternoon

Sun shines at fun day

ATTRACTIONS to suit all ages were on offer at the Redruth Fun Day organised by the Camborne Redruth and District Lions Club in aid of Redruth Choice and Redruth Community Centre. To tempt the public to spend their money there were 34 stalls and attractions dis- playing a variety of wares.

In Victoria Park there were gokarts, laser tag, charity stalls, children’s rides, a beer tent, games for both old, young and not so young, as well as tar- get bowls and cream teas at the Bowling Club

The organisers say that although the weather was not good at the start, it im- proved during the af-

ternoon allowing RedYouth to perform in the open air.

After three succes- sive years in which the Key Box £50 prize was claimed, there was a bonus for the Lions when nobody found the key to open the box and claim the money. The raffle was won by Jason (Peninsular Radio), with the sec- ond prize going to Richard Stevens and third to Jill Green from Helston.

Freddy Zapp fin- ished off the afternoon in fine style with a se- lection of memorable songs.
