Pre-Christmas Sunday lunches are a great way to get the family together.


Again if you have a big party to book for, get that booking in early.


If someone is on a special diet, be sure to inform the caterer in advance so they are prepared. And if a baby chair or child seat is required make sure you book it. It may also be necessary to choose the wine in advance if you want it well cooled unless the establishment keeps their wines in cool cabinets.


If you are planning a real party, you could consider hiring a hall or functions room in a catering or exhibition establishment. You could get a local publican to organise and man the bar and outside caterers to provide the food - a buffet would be ideal.


Contact a local theatrical agent or look in the local paper and you might find you can book a disco as well.


Of course you may be thinking of dining out on Christmas Day. If this is the case you had better get down to making that booking right now.


Christmas Day bookings are often booked just following the previous Christmas so be prepared for a few disappointments.


Naturally the larger the establishment the more chance you will have of getting a table but, if your party is large, you may have some difficulty.
