Forensic Social Workers x2 Salary: £27,000 - £32,500 dependent upon experience


Cygnet Hospital Stevenage requires an experienced and qualifi ed social worker to develop the social work department at this 87 bed secure psychiatric hospital off ering male and female, medium and low secure services, and most recently locked rehabilitation, for individuals suff ering severe and enduring mental health and personality problems. Patients are subject to the Mental Health Act and/ or the Criminal Justice System.


Duties include compiling detailed reports for Mental Health Review Tribunals, Managers Hearings and CPAs. Within the legislative framework you will work in partnership with service users, their families/carers, locality teams and agencies, as appropriate, towards implementing care pathways and facilitating after-care arrangements. The role requires working under pressure and to deadlines but also allows autonomy. You will be provided with ongoing line management support and regular supervision.


Ideal applicants will possess the following: • At least 3yrs post qualifying experience in Adult mental health services. • Robust Knowledge of the MHA 1983 (amended 2007) and relevant Code of Practice.


• Working knowledge of legislation linked to Safeguarding procedures such as; Child Protection, SOVA, Appropriate Adult, MAPPA, DOLS, IMHA and IMCA.


• Experience of multi-disciplinary working in the provision of therapeutic/statutory interventions


• Current AMPH status or previous signifi cant experience as an Approved Social Worker under the Mental Health Act 1983 (amended 2007).


• Good communication and time management skills, enabling aff ective working with other disciplines, in house and outside agencies/organisations


The position requires registration with the GSCC and is subject to an advanced CRB.

Sir George Alberti Research Training Fellowships


Recognising the pioneering research career of Sir George Alberti, Diabetes UK has launched a new Fellowship Scheme that enables NHS employees to work towards a PhD or MD and develop a career in research that will benefit people affected by diabetes. Fellowships are open to clinically and non-clinically trained individuals.


Financial support


Support may be requested for up to three years and may include the applicant’s salary, PhD fees, and support for materials and consumables. Eligibility


Applications are invited from individuals working in any scientific discipline or sector within the NHS who can demonstrate a role in improving the health of people with diabetes.


Applicants should identify a supervisor before applying. Diabetes UK cannot identify supervisors on behalf of applicants.


This scheme is not intended to provide support for science graduates conducting basic research in universities. Diabetes UK offers a separate PhD studentship scheme to cover such projects.

Nurse Practitioner (2 posts) – Band 6 Mull & Iona Community Hospital, Isle of Mull £25,528 - £34,189

We are looking to recruit two enthusiastic/motivated Nurse Practitioners to join our team within our new purpose built health facility on the Isle of Mull which is due to open in the autumn. You will work within the nursing and multi-disciplinary professional team to ensure a high standard of nursing care, with a focus on the provision of a developing Nurse Practitioner service.


You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a fl exible manner, possessing the ability to competently perform the necessary aspects of care for unscheduled care patient groups as well as inpatients with a variety of health needs. You must be able to plan and prioritise your workload to meet the demands of the daily activity. You will have proven post registration experience training, with experience of working as a Nurse Practitioner, holding a qualifi cation in Patient assessment and Minor Injuries (or equivalent) as a minimum.


A full, current driving licence is essential.
