Support One Man’s Climb and the Women’s Shelter
L
earn about one man’s journey to transformation to benefit The Shelter for Abused Women and Children and support the organization and his incredible effort at a special fundraiser,
from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., September 27, at Café Lurcat, in Naples. Glen Schwesinger will present his plans to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, in Tanzania—the highest freestanding mountain in the world, with ecological systems that include cultivated land, rain forest, heath, moorland, alpine desert and arctic summit—beginning February 25, 2013. “A Shelter trustee, Glen is making the 19,342-foot journey for his own transformation and covering his expenses himself,” explains Executive Director Linda Oberhaus. “Yet, he carries with him the hopes and dreams of thousands of men, women and children receiving services from the shelter.” “I’ll be honest, this journey is both exciting and intimi- dating,” shares Schwesinger, “not unlike the journey that program participants make the first time they walk through the shelter’s doors to start their trek from victim of domestic abuse to survivor.”
Cost: $35/person. Location: 494 Fifth Ave. S. For more informa- tion, call 239-775-3862, ext. 217, email TDoeringer@Naples
