B CLANCY’S by tony reverditto
IN CENTRAL ORANGE COUNTY, CLANCY’S BAR & GRILL is an energetic sports-themed eatery with a hometown feel that serves American comfort food with a full bar and a vast array of brews on tap. And don’t let the address scare you off, it’s conve- niently located south of Disneyland, just far enough from tour- ists, yet within walking distance of the Anaheim resort complex and hotels. Clancy’s welcomes visiting guests, hometown locals and sports fanatics to convene in harmony under one roof—the good news for locals—ample free parking! For you sports fans, enjoy your favorite game or event on one of the 36 large plasma TVs while shooting billiards, or relax with friends over a cocktail, a beer or specialty martini.
AR AND GRILL COMFORT FOOD
EXCELLENT Cheryl Clancy, the warm-hearted owner, was born
into the restaurant industry to parents who owned a traditional diner. She opened a successful restaurant and catering chain later, but wanted to open some- thing that would be loved by both locals and tourists and thus Clancy’s Bar & Grill was born. Clancy and the restaurant’s Chef, Francisco Rincon,
have worked together for over 13 years. Rincon is self-taught and has put together a stellar menu, that I would define as sports bar gourmet. He uses sustainable products and ingredients from local farms whenever possible, which are made in-house from personal recipes. Aside from food, spending time with his family and new baby is his other pas- sion. Menu items include
signature entrees, hearty burgers, buffalo wings, a variety of hot dogs with several mac’n’cheese op-
tions. At Clancy’s they like to say, “Start with a beer, stay for the cheer!” For starters, we went with Seared Blackened
Ahi, Crispy Calamari, Steamed Mussles and Hot Wings. Out of the many wing flavors, we went for the jalapeño mango and teriyaki. Both were delectable (they also have barbeque, garlic, traditional, dia- blo and stupid hot)! I couldn’t resist the Blue Cheese Mac’n’Cheese even though they had nine other

recipes available—all which sounded insanely good. Many other tempting offerings include: sliders,
pastas, fresh fish, chicken and prime steaks. All- American comfort dishes including their classics; Yankee Pot Roast, Chicken Pot Pie and Meatloaf. After much contemplation, I chose the Filet Mignon, which came with a choice of toppings; my selection was mushrooms and onions. John had the Grilled Atlantic Salmon with mustard caper sauce and our dining companion, Jennifer, chose the Parmesan Crusted Chicken with marinara spaghetti—we loved our entrées. We finished off our meal by sharing a slice of their cheesecake, which was one of the creamiest and tastiest that I have had, the same can be said of their Clubhouse Bread Pudding with bourbon vanilla bean sauce. FYI - Clancy’s has 50 items under $10 prepared with true gourmet flair.
