Which of your songs is your personal favorite to sing? I guess the one that started me and is also my signature tune, “Release Me”. Every

time I sing it, it raises memories that are so unbelievable and the arrangement is so good and it is as fresh to me as it was 45 years ago. You have traveled almost everywhere, which is your favorite place on the planet? I don’t have a specific place, but in the last month I have done Russia, Romania,

South Africa, Chile, Beirut, Israel and the Philippines; all these places are wonder- ful. You know, it is unbelievable to travel around the world and learn that all these people in these countries, some non-English speaking, know my songs and sing along with me. Is there a place that you would like to go that you haven’t been to yet? I have travelled around the world several times and I don’t think there is a place

that I haven’t been, if you want to know the truth. Maybe, China, I haven’t been there yet. In 1999, you recorded a pop dance album with club mixes including remixes of “Quando, Quando, Quando” and “Release Me” which made it to the Top Ten Billboard Dance charts. Did you see that one coming? No, I didn’t, but it was nice to have a change in my style of music and it was fine,

I love a challenge. You recently recorded the platinum-selling theme song “Lesbian Seagull” for the latest Beavis and Butthead movie. You have even appeared on several MTV programs, including MTV Beach House, Chilling with the Weaze and Oddville. What is it like to be appreciated by this younger generation? It’s nice to have an all around age group that is your following; mine is three or

four generations and I think that is what gives you longevity in this business. At one time it used to be 90 percent ladies 10 percent men, now it is 50/50 and I think it is absolutely wonderful. Does your son, Scott Dorsey, who is your manager have anything to do with your resurgence into the younger market? He is very creative and yes, he has been guiding me in that direction.

I hear you have a new CD, tell us about it. It’s called Engelbert and the Girls and it’s not finished yet, but it should be out

in August. Unfortunately, I cannot name the ladies because they are big names in the industry and the record label called Cone Head has sworn me to secrecy, but I hope it will be a big success. The next one hasn’t start yet, but I know it will be Engelbert with the Guys! Tell us about the show at the Cerritos Center. This is the show I am taking all around the world, I do some of my standard songs

that have sold 150 million records and plus I sing new songs from the new album which is not released yet. It is a fast-moving show and has had a great reception.

Two Performances Only! Saturday and Sunday August 18 and 19 at the Cerritos Center of the Performing Arts, 12700 Center Court Drive, Cerritos. Tickets: cerritoscenter.com or 562.467.8818. *Thanks to my Facebook friends for their ideas for questions.
