Easter Seals Florida Offers Senior Concierge Program

E

aster Seals Florida (ESF) has launched its Senior Concierge program, which provides afford- able, personal-

ized case management services for seniors and their caregivers in Lee and Collier counties. It is geared to provide accessible and affordable short- or long-term support and guidance to those who need it, plus specialized assistance to out-of-state next-of-kin whose loved ones live in Southwest Florida.

Conference Addresses Adults with Autism O

f the 1.5 million people in the U.S. that have been diagnosed on the autism spectrum, approximately 80 percent are younger than 22. An upcoming conference, Creating a Future for Adults with Autism, will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., September 15, at St. John’s The Evangelist Church, in Naples, to explore the special needs and concerns of these individuals. The event is sponsored by the nonprofit organization Kneads: A Fresh Vision for Special Education. Conference coordinator Debby Lasek says, “In our area, the need for long- term living and support for adults with autism far exceeds the available resources. This conference will help us learn how we can make a change.”

Location: 625 111th Ave. N. For more information, call Lasek at 239-450-6060 or email DebbyLasek29@aol.com.

“We developed this program in response to the many mature adults and their families that struggle with finding resources and services in Southwest Florida and who can- not afford the price of private case/ care management and don’t qualify for free services, so they fall com- pletely through the service cracks,” says Debra Lynne, Easter Seals vice president for the Southwest Florida territory. “This is an affordable fee-for-service program, partially underwritten by ESF, to ensure we provide a viable option for those in need, staffed with professional and compassionate case managers that have expertise working directly with seniors and helping families care for their aging loved ones.”

Location: 1650 Medical Lane, Ste. 1. For more information, call 239-277- 9818 or visit FL.EasterSeals.com.
