Epping Forest A Wet Affair

After the wettest April in decades, our annual GCSE fieldtrip to Epping Forest was a wet affair!

Battling the elements

Mixed Views On Impact Of Westfield

Year 9 Geography students spent a day comparing the different types of retail provision in the Shepherds Bush area.

Concern for trade impact

Despite the rain their spirits weren’t dampened! The market stall traders in the well-known Shepherds Bush Market were interviewed by students, with many expressing their concerns over the Westfield Shopping Centre and how it has impacted on trade for them; whilst others saw the development as a great opportunity.

Facilities impressive overall

Students also conducted land use surveys of the shopping spaces. They were very impressed with the facilities and design of the Westfield Shopping Centre and some were particularly mesmerised by the diamond jewellery on sale!

The students behaved very well and worked impressively to collect the data needed for their coursework.

Mrs Virdee

Students were well kitted-out with wellies and waterproofs and were determined to battle the elements to collect the data needed for their ‘Rivers’ coursework. Debden Brook was flowing faster than usual for the time of year, and deeper river levels meant that we had several students with wet feet!

Students praised for behaviour

They worked very hard to measure river velocity, channel width and depth, river turbidity, and wetted perimeter. Epping Forest Field Study Centre

staff commented on how

well the students from Villiers had behaved.

They showed good organisational skills and worked efficiently in their groups to collect all the data they needed.

Well done to all Year 10 Geography students.

Twelve Year 8 and 9 students from Villiers took part, and two of them won two of the challenges!

Congratulations to winners: Nilukshi Hettiarage CY7 and Simranjeet Duhra CY10

Spelling Bees champs defend title!

TARANDEEP Jhutti, Muaaz Mohamed, Jakob Wahed and Preetnoor Nagi successfully defended their title as Ealing spelling champions last month as they won the Ealing Spelling Bee once again!

They were fantastic and really did the school proud.
