Sweet potato scones

Crafty Cooks runs fun and educational cookery classes across the country and are looking for exciting, motivated people to join the team. Here is a recipe from their class, ideal for little people as a bread substitute and a great way to introduce your child to sweet potatoes!
1oz/28g 2oz/56g
2.5oz/70g 1dsp 3tbs
Butter
Mashed sweet potato Self raising flour Brown sugar Milk
1: Sieve the flour into your bowl and using your fingertips rub the two together until you have a sand like mixture.
2: Add the remaining dry ingredients and the sweet potato then stir together.
3: Slowly stir in the milk until you have a nice dough - the amount you need depends on the wetness of the potato.
4: Roll out the dough until as fat as your little finger and cut out shapes, little round shapes work very well!
5: Bake for 12-15minutes 220oC/430oF/GM7

aking your own purees is easy to do and it means you know exactly what your baby is eating, & it can help you save money too.
Cooking fruit & vegetable purees The easiest way to make your own purees is to wash, peel, chop and then steam whichever fruit or vegetable you’re using until it’s soft. Take care not to overcook as the food will lose its taste and texture. Once cooked you can blend it any way you like. You can change the texture by adding a bit of the reserved cooking water or breastmilk / formula milk. Homemade purees can be made in batches and then frozen. You can use ice cube trays (make sure you cover them so they don’t get contaminated).
