Are you a good listener?

"SAMARITAN volunteers are ordinary people, just like you and me. We come from all walks of life, all backgrounds and cultures but we do have one thing in common – we are all good listeners. Listening is something most people take for granted, but for Samaritans, listening is really important.

At the Herefordshire branch, we need people who can take the time to listen and provide confidential emotional support for those going through difficult times, who are in despair, feeling suicidal or have no-one else to turn to.

There are approximately 100 Samaritan volunteers at our branch, but during the past 12 months we received about 15,000 contacts by telephone, e-mail and meetings face - to face!"
