Local news for Snodland and Halling Park group wins environment prize
THE Friends of Nevill Park, who keep the Snodland park clean and have painted and wood- stained the old play equipment at the Brook Lane end, have been recognised as Environ- mental Champions by Tonbridge and Malling Council. About 20 people spent 80 hours between them painting the equipment. Cllr Anne Moloney, chairman of Snodland Town Council which owns and maintains the park, said helpers ranged in age from six to 70 years “The result was really worth- while and we all had a lot of fun, even though it was rather chilly,” she explained. “Some of the younger helpers seemed to have more paint on them than the wood! “A really big thank you goes to everyone who helped with this, they made a huge difference to the equipment, which now looks really inviting.” Cllr Brian Luker, the outgoing Mayor of Tonbridge and Malling who presented certificates, said he was really impressed at the huge effort made to improve and protect the environment. “I hope their actions will inspire others to do what they can, not just to keep our borough clean and tidy, but to help preserve our communities for future genera- tions,” he added.
