THE DARK KNIGHT RISES For

anyone stuck in a bat cave for the last seven years, this is the final part of

Christopher Nolan’s brilliant Dark Night Trilogy, and marks the end for Christian Bale as the dark defender of Gotham city. Shame, I like Bale’s Batman. He’s dark, vicious and the kind of superhero that would punch his mum and sister if they dared to say that maybe that chap in the makeup and green hair sort of stole the show! Te new story is set after the events ofTe Dark Knight left Batman a villain in the eyes of the long-suffering Gothamites. Gothamites? Gothaminians? Anyway, Batman’s neighbours have been pretty pissed with him – until the arrival of the latest super villain, Bane. He’s not just a criminal, he’s a terrorist, and if there’s one thing that justifies breaking all the rules it’s terrorists! As such, it’s time for Batman to cape-up and kick-ass once

more. A big name supporting cast including favourites from the previous films return including Gary Oldman, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and Cilian Murphy, as well as a surprise return for a previously deceased foe. Tom Hardy plays Batman’s current villainous target Bane, who would appear on first indications to be a worthy opponent. Not sure about Anne Hathaway doing a turn as Catwoman (Michelle, there can be only one). As with the previous two, this film is unlikely to disappoint, as Nolan is the kind of director who steers his films with true vision. If he says it will be dark, then it will. If he says it will have action, it will, and if he says that this will be the highest grossing film of the summer, I wouldn’t put money against it - holy box office!
