River, and, in turn, the Kumsheen Raſting Resort. Essentially, the Kumsheen Raſting Resort is a

unique, upscale raſting and adventure resort situated in the heart of the Fraser Canyon, on BC’s majestic Tompson River. Te resort is known for its friendly staff and various amenities, including a licensed restaurant, outdoor pool, hot tub, volleyball courts and 9-hole disc golf course. “We have perfect white-water courses for novices

and experienced river runners alike,” says Maya Chang, Director of Marketing. “Te hot, dry, sunny weather, stunning scenery, and après- raſting amenities, make what we offer here, an unbeatable experience.” Recently, the

Kumsheen Resort has devised a menu of new special interest trips for guests that come from around the world. Tese dynamic new programs combine white-water raſting on the majestic Tompson River, with expert-led birding, naturalist and geological outings. Tese special interest trips combine two-day white-water raſting excursions on the Tompson, with different themes along the river corridor. For instance, guests can investigate the 150-million- year-old black canyon, impressive landslide sites and hear the incredible stories of how they came to be. “Aſter a memorable day of adventuring in the Fraser

Canyon, our guests can take in exquisite gourmet cuisine in the on-site Cutting Board Restaurant,” Maya says. “Aſter dinner, they can recharge in one of our heritage teepees or themed canvas cabins, or spend an aſternoon relaxing around the pool and hot tub before taking on the frothing rapids again.” Kumsheen maintains a fleet of safe power raſts to

transport guests to various locations where they’ll take in the amazing scenery in one of the greatest natural history settings on earth. Here, layers of history are hidden in the canyon walls. Biologist and naturalist Rick Howie, naturalist Jim Ginns and birder Katharine Shewchuk team up on the birding and naturalist outings; BC author, Murphy Shewchuk, and landslide expert, Doug VanDine, jointly lead the gold, gems and geology excursions. Kumsheen also operates two summer camps

that feature rewarding, on-the-job training sessions for teens 15-18 years. Tey’ll learn basic raſt guiding and river running skills; more importantly, the will gain immeasurable self-confidence through the process. “Tese camps are for teenagers who want non-stop

Te second
