EcoVillage Presentations at Journey Arts
arcus Lindner, of Journey Arts, will pres- ent a design for the Calusa EcoVillage—a “visioned,” sustainable and spiritual commu- nity of approximately 120 homes to be situ- ated on 300 acres in Charlotte County—from 7 to 9 p.m., July 18 and 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., July 21, at Journey Arts’ facility in Naples. Lindner recently returned from the internationally recognized ecovillage and spiritual community of Findhorn, in northern Scotland, where he participated in both the Findhorn In- tensive for Spiritual Deepening and the EcoVillage Training programs, fulfilling requirements for a permaculture design certification. The Calusa village’s design, created by Lindner and several colleagues from the Findhorn Ecovillage Pro- gram, will be based on permaculture’s three pillars of People Care, Earth Care and Fair Share.

Marcus Lindner
“It is my intention and hope to initiate and help manifest, together with a group of like-spirited people in Southwest Florida, an ecovillage that will also be a demonstration and research development for what sustainable community living might look like in our region, as we release old dogmatic ways of living and embrace the new in as many forms as possible,” Lindner says, adding that he is inviting, “…all who hold the dream of awakening in mind, body and spirit and have longed to live together in a sustainable community, thereby creating a smaller footprint on the planet and a larger opening of the heart.”
The proposed village design includes a 40-acre farm, meditation sanctuary, wellness center, equestrian facility and community center. The property is surrounded on three sides by Florida Forever conservation land.
