IDS 3304 Permaculture and Forest Gardening will meet from 2 to 3:45 p.m., each Monday and Wednesday, beginning August 20, at the South Fort Myers campus, and can be audited by non-students. The state-of-the-art, practical and experiential course on the design and maintenance of edible food forests will cover irrigation, fertilization, pruning, propagation and dealing with threats such as pests, disease, frosts, varmints and tropical storms.
“We plan to discuss such top- ics as raising chickens, beekeeping, aquaculture, composting and vermi- composting,” says Segal, who has also taught courses on sustainability, green business and organic gardening. “This course will effect continuity of the campus’ Food Forest and will utilize its laboratory facilities,” he advises.
