Spring has been crazy and they started launching boats earlier than usual, but there is still a lot left to do. The new heated storage building was filled this winter and was a big help. They also are now building a new travel lift slip, which is being done by Prock Marine of Rockland. This is going to make way for the new travel lift. The causeway going over to the yard is being redone by the town. They have raised the height of the road 2 feet and widened.
Seal Cove Boat Yard in Brooksville has done some major repairs this winter, but like many other yards they have had a lot of small jobs, which have added up to a complete winter’s worth of work.
A. Concordia 39 was in and had her seams splined and they repowered her with a Yanmar 3YM 30 and added new electronics. A Hinckley, the former NIGHT TRAIN owned by Bob Hinckley, was in for some cosmetic work and interior varnish. They also overhauled the engine and V drive and up- graded the electronics
They did a complete rehab, which in- cluded gelcoat peeling, deck repair and Awlgripping the hull on a Pearson Vanguard. They also added toe rails and dorade boxes and electronics

A Luders 33 was in for a rehab. They Awlgripped her deck and added new elec- tronics.
A Dark Harbor 17 received some new frames this winter.
A Tartan 34 is scheduled to be Awlgripped as well as several other smaller boats.
A S&S yawl was in for some rigging issues. This boat had been built by Paul Luke in 1958 and had no blocking in the boom. With the new equipment today too much stress has been placed on certain parts of the rig and they have had to re-engineered and built. It has been interesting to note that a lot of full electronic packages have been added to a number of the customers this winter.
Boatbuilder Doug Hyland in Brooklin is nearing completion on a Herreshoff designed Watch Hill 15. She was started last fall and all that needs to be done is cosmetics and seats. She should be overboard the end of May. On 18-foot Chesapeake Deadrise Out- board Skiff has been completed, motor is in, and they are now ready to do sea trials. As for design work they are presently working on a 32-foot torpedoes stern lobster boat.
Osmond’s Boat Shop, operated by Eric Blackwood, on Beals Island is currently re- building an Osmond 38. They are removing her split-wheelhouse and replacing with just a winterback. They are also replacing the platform and framing, adding new hatches, switching the engine over to wet exhaust, replacing the steering system and adding a new stainless steel rudder, cutting out the stern and adding a trap rack.

Previously in the shop, was a 38-foot Richard Alley built lobster boat. She had her house and trunk removed and replaced. Then they fiberglassed her down to the waterline, painted her bottom and gelcoated her topsides. This was a two month job. While this was underway a Duffy 35 was also in the shop. She had a new platform put in as well as repowered with a 220-hp John Deere diesel. This was all done by her owner. Once the Osmond 38 is done, Eric said he is ready for lobster fishing season.
