Olivia, Congratulations on your success as a ‘work at home Mum.’ How was your business ‘Star Concepts’ created?


My business started out of a need I had of my own!


I have always loved photographs and


growing up, my family use to take a lot of them. My daughter was about 2 at the time and I had taken so many photos of her (as you do!) and they were just sitting on my computer doing nothing. I really wanted to get them up on the wall for all to see, but I didn’t just want to put a photo up, I wanted some design with it to make it different. I searched online and just couldn’t find anything like it. I have a marketing and graphic design background so my Photoshop skills allowed me to do it myself! Then I decided to share with others and they liked the idea so Star Concepts was born! It wasn’t until a little later that I added in the extra products like Iphone covers, storage stools, puzzles, cosmetic bags and the list goes on


As a ‘work at home Mum’ myself, I know that my biggest challenge is balance between my family & business. Do you have 3 tips that can help our Biz Mums out in this area?


Firstly I am going to be totally honest and say this is one of the hardest things to do.. So, I am definitely not perfect at it and Im still learning the art of “balance.”


My 3 tips would have to be:


• Be Organised and Tidy. One of my Great Aunts growing up always use to say to me “Tidy as you Go!” It has stuck with me forever and I try to instill it in my daughter. Kind of given up with my husband!!!!!


• I have 3 time zones -“Star Time” – working time, “Stats Time” – family time(last name Statters hence Stats!) and “Single Time” – just for me. Schedule them as best as you can, try not to let them overlap but be flexible.


• Don’t think you can do it all on your own. ASK for HELP, when you need it, not when it is too late.
