In 1980, Werner Wachter came up with the basic Edelweiss concept while on a business trip in Las Ve- gas. He soon quit his job in medical imaging to develop and test the first Edelweiss tour. The first tour ran through The Alps, The French Riv- iera, and down through Florence, and into Venice. The unforgettable experience reassured Werner that his idea for Edelweiss was a glori- ous one.
The tours are held in dozens of locations around the world, and begin and end in a single location. The tours span anywhere from 6 to 15 days, and cover thousands of miles across timeless passages and beautiful countryside. All the tours offer special opportunities for riders of various skill levels. Both extraordinary off-road challenges and relaxing asphalt cruises are offered throughout the numerous different tours.
