Quesada Focus HELP Vega Baja
The recent HELP Vega Baja fund raising night the Charity Extravaganza, was an outstanding success and raised over 1,000 euros for the HELP Care programme, a scheme that helps people both in and recently discharged from hospital.
HELP Vega Baja is completely self-funded through membership, donations and fund raising events such as this and has been providing assistance in the community for over 30 years.
The offi ce in San Miguel has a vast range of Orthopaedic equipment for hire at a very reasonable weekly rental.
There is a Welfare Offi cer who visits people in their own homes to offer advice and information regarding the need for care and help in the home and on what is available from the social services, this is a free service.
HELP also has a free Diabetic Support Group, who meets monthly, to share information and experiences and updates of any development in the treatment of diabetes.
There is a Friendship Centre at Playa Flamenca that welcomes those who would otherwise be housebound or in need of company, that provides a weekly opportunity to meet new friends in a caring and friendly environment.
The social group Friends Unlimited meets weekly in Quesada and alternates meetings with speakers, entertainment, quizzes, Menú del Día at local restaurants and customised coach trips.
Both the Torrevieja and San Miguel offi ces supply information relating to living in Spain plus fact sheets.
HELP also offers practical assistance if a death occurs and can help in exceptional circumstances with the burial, cremation and in cases of Repatriation and will deal with the procedures on behalf of those unable to cope for themselves.
