Navtronics Marine Becomes Dealer for Southport Boats Waterfront News

Southport Boats (www.southport boats.com), a division of Maritime Marine Group, LLC, is pleased to announce the addi- tion of Navtronics Marine Group (www.navtronics.com) of York, Maine to the Southport Boats dealer network. Navtronics will represent the Southport 27' through 29' Center Console and Express fishing boats throughout Maine and New Hampshire. Navtronics Marine Group, York, ap- proaches new boat sales with a background in a wide range of marine services. For the last 20-years, Navtronics has specialized in the sale and installation of high end marine elec- tronics, working closely with boat owners as well as service yards, builders and designers. Since 2002, under the direction of company President Tim Greer, the company has diver- sified its offerings to better serve customers. Merging with Redman Marine Fabricators allowed Navtronics to bring customers not only the electronics package but also custom aluminum and stainless steel fabrications. And the addition of Navtronics Marine Out- fitters makes them the preferred source in Southern Maine and New Hampshire for high

end tackle and marine supplies along with marine canvas and marine safety equipment. Southport Boats was the next logical step. According to Navtronics President Tim Greer, “We’ve built our business by under- standing our core customers - people who love the water. People like us. People who appreciate high end products and deserve exceptional personal service. We were not interested in any boat line, but the offshore pedigree and performance of the Southport design along with the Maine-built quality and craftsmanship makes Southport Boats a perfect match for our clientele.”

Asked about this latest additions to the Southport Boats dealer network, company President Ian Kopp commented, “Navtronics Marine Group aligns with our business phi- losophy perfectly. Our Southport dealer part- ners are all very much focused on a more personal approach to boat sales, offering buyers and owners a full suite of services. As customers seek to personalize and customize their Southport, both Marine Concepts and Navtronics have the on-the-water experience and the product offerings so that both the

hardcore offshore fisherman and the family boat buyer will get the professional attention they deserve.” Kopp also notes that Navtronics has partnered with Southport Boats since the move to Maine as the fabri- cator for their new Premium Fiberglass T-Top and as the installer for the factory certified OEM electronics packages.

By early May Navtronics will be receiv- ing a stunning flag blue Southport 27 Center Console with customized teak accents. And no doubt the boat will also show off the industry’s latest electronics offerings. In 2003, a team of experienced boat build- ers, passionate fishermen and offshore rac- ing enthusiasts joined forces with the leg- endary C. Raymond Hunt Associates to de- velop a unique and revolutionary boat de- sign focused on maximizing the power and performance available from modern out- boards. The first Southport was launched. The results... Simply Amazing!

Southport’s exclusive Hunt4 Design® hull was developed to utilize the weight of modern twin power outboards to provide a soft, dry ride, stable platform, and easy han- dling. The unique design of the hull allows the boat to jump up on plane without bow rise, delivers a surprisingly agile ride, and turns on a dime. Ask a Southport owner about the ride

of their boat and you will hear repeated praise about its balance, responsiveness and su- perb handling - often summarized as “Simply Amazing”.

In every Southport you’ll find electrical systems designed in a yacht-like manner, scuppers that evacuate green water like a custom sportfish, rugged offshore T-tops and subtle comfort throughout the interior, all this with lines that reflect some of the most beautiful products afloat.

Change is good. In 2011, Southport Boats became part of the Maritime Marine Group LLC located in Augusta, Maine where a team of experienced Maine boat builders ensures that the construction of every boat matches the outstanding performance of the hull design. Not only are Southport boats constructed with the highest quality gel coats, adhesives and composite materials, but now they are being built using modern vacuum infusion technology which provides a stronger higher quality product that makes a great boat even better.

The combination of legendary hull per- formance, beautiful lines, and modern con- struction make Southport the most desirable boat in its class. And it goes without saying that Southport Boats are the premier offshore fishing machine.

SOUTH PORTLAND –– The Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse, located on the SMCC campus in South Portland, is looking for volunteers and docents for the 2012 season, which will start on Saturday, June 23. “We would like to be open more often and do more for visitors, but we are limited by the number of people we have to help us,” said Bill Berman, Chair of the Spring Point Ledge Light Trust, which oversees the light- house.

Volunteers and docents work both on- shore selling tickets and giving information about the lighthouse and in the lighthouse narrating its history and construction and

assuring the safety of the visitors. “Because of the long breakwater, the ladders and hatches and the valuable artifacts at each level, it takes at least five volunteers for us to open,” said Berman. “Being a docent is a great experience, a lot of fun and you meet people from all of over the world.” The Spring Point Ledge Light Trust was created in 1998 when the U.S. Coast Guard abandoned the lighthouse as part of the Maine Lights program. After no other public or non-profit entity was interested in taking responsibility for it, the Trust was created by a group of local lighthouse and history lov- ers. The Trust’s two responsibilities are the upkeep of the lighthouse and providing regu- lar public access.

The open season starts Saturday, June 23, and continues Saturdays and Sundays through August, as well as Saturday, Sep- tember 1, (Labor Day Weekend), Saturday, October 6 (Columbus Day Weekend) and for Maine Lighthouse Day (date to be an- nounced).

Anyone interested in becoming a volun- teer or docent for the lighthouse or has ques- tions can email info@springpointledgelight.com or visit www.springpointledgelight.com.
