SENNEN LEADS AND ADMIRAL FOLLOW?

There’s barely a date in May that the Norwich Arts Centre lies quiet, its walls not massaged by the generous thud of live music. The difficulty then, is deciding which dates to be in attendance for. Let us take some of the decision away by highlighting two unmissable gigs gracing the NAC. The first is the recently announced album launch gig of Sennen on May 16th. We’re so lucky that Sennen call Norwich their original home, affording us these memorable gigs as we become early adopters of their new LP, ‘Lost Harmony’, one of the many albums that was recorded at the time of the riots, giving us another social snapshot of 2011. The second notable gig, towards the end of the month, welcomes Admiral Follow, a band given a great deal of the share of affection coming from SXSW’s attendees. Their gig, on Sunday May 27th, will deliver their rootsy, high-energy folk inspired music, all through vocalist Louis Abbott’s pronounced Scottish lilt. 12 DIRTY BULLETS

There is a band of two brothers, joined by two friends who are creating a welcome fuss everywhere they leave their musical mark on the planet’s blueprint. Hailing from London, 12 Dirty Bullets have been parading their Motown in your Town tour far beyond their hometown, racking up 85 shows last autumn, with 16 more UK dates this April and May. 12 Dirty Bullets picked up national press attention across Europe and following two USA tours (where they made the radio industry charts with ‘Motown’, they rounded off their amazing year with a sell-out UK tour ending in a Camden Koko headline and a groundswell of fans and they are back to play in more cities that weren’t played originally. The date you need to mark heavily on your calendar – in BLOOD preferably, or maybe just Sharpie pen – is May 11th, where they bring the show to Norwich, playing at Open. We have a pair of tickets to give away to the show, so hunt out the details on Outlineonline.co.uk, where the link will be clearly clickable from the front page! Over 2011 the band whilst also touring the band has also produced their second album due for release later this year. The intense hard work is paying off, and their next releases anticipated.

FILMED BBC GIG GONNA KILL IT!

There’s something about the magic of the screen, silver or otherwise. The transmitted image still dazzles us with its lighting trickery and production aesthetics, as it has done since the first commercial sets of the 1920s. But to get to the world behind it, to dive into the screen has GOT to be an unrivalled experience. This May 19th, the BBC Music Video Festival presents to you their second filmed concert at the wonderfully equipped EPIC Studios, and you can be in attendance. Presenting Kill It Kid as headliners, with local Peel session veterans, Magoo and Twin Brother (aka multi-instrumentalist Alex Wells) in support, the gig will be filmed by BBC Introducing in Norfolk, then later broadcast via the internet and the Big Screens around the country; a fantastic opportunity to support scenes local and national. Kill It Kid bring their malevolent blues, drenched in their British roots to the show in the midst of working on their next album. Tickets are £6 (adv), available from www.ueaticketbookings.co.uk, or £9 on the door.
