The Township Road Department has begun a project to improve the sidewalks along Main Street in Whitehouse Station, said Committeewom- an Betty Ann Fort, who is filling Donna Simon’s seat on the Township Committee as Simon fills the state Assembly seat of the late Pete Biondi. “Over the years, some portions of the sidewalks have deteriorated due to age, weather and heaving tree roots. These sidewalks will be repaired or replaced,” Fort said. “Some trees whose root systems have displaced the sidewalk sections will have to be removed. The end result of this project is that it will be much easier and safer to walk along Main Street and patron- ize our local businesses.”
