theawakeningcommunity Guillermo Mendoza of Impact Coaching Solutions by Barbara Lynn Silberg

Guillermo Mendoza wears many hats. He is an international speaker; a writer; a husband and father; an International Executive Coach and a Coach Trainer, certified by the International Coaching Community (ICC) based in London; and the founder of Impact Coaching Solu- tions, the only authorized coaching and train- ing center in the United States for the ICC.

Barbara: How would you describe your business? Guillermo: I use a multicultural combination of coaching, workshops, consulting, public speaking and writing to help businesses with strategy, sales, marketing and management. I use the same combination with individuals to achieve higher levels of well being, abundance, balance and happiness. Coaching is a transformational methodology that unleash-

es a person’s potential to maximize performance and trans- form dreams into reality by setting goals. It helps clarify and formulate goals and make plans a reality by changing limiting beliefs to empowering beliefs, developing talents, and plan- ning for success. To do that, a coach must ask the right ques- tions, help develop a plan and hold the client to their plan. People want to be the best they can be. Since we mental- ly create the world we live in, a coach needs to discover that world by asking questions. A person’s language shapes his thinking, but also limits it. Coaching takes that into account. We also utilize Neuro-linguistic Programming and Behavioral Coaching in the program which lasts from 7 to 10 sessions, about 5 months.

Barbara: Who was your strongest influence? Guillermo: My father. When I was 10, he gave me a book on the religions of the world. It broadened my worldview. He took Silva training and taught me their methods, as well. Through him, I learned that “all roads lead to Rome;”

every philosophy asks the believer to become a better person and help others. (That is why I love coaching: because it is precisely about getting a better version of ourselves.) He also taught me that it doesn’t matter what you do in your job–whether you’re the CEO or the janitor—you should act as if you owned the company.

Barbara: How did you get started? Guillermo: In 2008, I was General Manager for a company in Monterey when the Mexican economy went into financial

crisis. When I looked around for an alternative opportunity, I learned about business coach- ing, and ultimately met Norma Alonso, one of 3 ICC coaches in the country. In June 2010, I took their advanced classes and became a certified International Executive Coach Trainer. I am their only Coach Trainer in the U.S., so far. My goal is to certi- fy 3 to 4 groups per year and have 80 new coaches soon.

Barbara: What are your personal goals? Guillermo: Short-term, to put a book together. Long-term, once all our teenagers have left the nest, to travel the world with my wife and spread my message through keynotes and presentations.

Barbara: Whom do you most admire? Guillermo: Those who know the meaning of life, what’s important and focus on things that really matter, like the Dali Lama or modern innovators like Bill Gates or Steve Jobs— people who balance their lives with friends, work, spirituality and helping others.

Barbara: What has been your greatest disappointment or fail- ing? Guillermo: I don’t see disappointment or failure as a problem. Failure is an ingredient for success; failure is feedback I can use to fine-tune my strategy and try again.

Barbara: What would people be surprised to learn about you? Guillermo: I’m very pragmatic. You can decide to be happy; it’s a matter of having the right viewpoint and ideas.

Barbara: What is your favorite quote? Guillermo: “There are no ordinary moments; life is a sequence of extraordinary moments.” ~ Unknown. Make sure you are creating these extraordinary moments for you.
