GURNARD JUNIOR REGATTA July 29-31 Gurnard SC, Isle of Wight EVENT DETAILS: Regatta for under 16s, with race and regatta fleets. FORMAT: Three days with 12 short races in Gurnard Bay. Two fleets sail on separate courses, with the more able children racing unaided, while novices are given full coaching and support. All entrants must be minimum RYA Level 2 qualified. CLASSES: Optimist, Pico, RS Feva. ENTRY FEES: Singlehanders £30, doublehanders £40 (late fees apply after July 3). SOCIAL SCENE: Evening entertainment Friday and Saturday nights, prizegiving on Sunday. Gurnard Green, beach and play area are right next to the club. Snacks available from the club. Watersedge café next door has hot food/ice creams. TIPS FOR VISITORS: Book early, ferries are likely to be busy, and accommodation in and around Cowes is at a premium. MUDEFORD WEEK July 28–August 3 Mudeford SC, Mudeford, Dorset EVENT DETAILS: Seven days of racing and fun events, with a social event every evening. FORMAT: One or two handicap races each day followed by a family fun race. Racing is divided into two fleets: 3-lap and 2-lap based on PN, sailor experience and ability. CLASSES: All dinghies, but high performance deep centreboard/rudder craft are at a severe disadvantage in Christchurch Harbour. The Laser is about the right size singlehanded boat, with a large variety of other singlehanded and crewed boats. ENTRY FEES: £50 for the whole week for adults; youths and juniors half price. Entry possible for individual days. SOCIAL SCENE: Social event every evening.

POOLE WEEK August 26-31 Parkstone YC, Poole, Dorset EVENT DETAILS: A long established, family friendly regatta with excellent racing in Poole Harbour and Poole Bay for a wide range of dinghy and keelboat classes. ENTRY FEES: £85 per boat (£70 for singlehanders). SOCIAL SCENE: A full social programme will be provided during the week. JUNIOR CAMEL WEEK July 26-August 1 Rock Sailing & Water Ski Club, Wadebridge, Cornwall EVENT DETAILS: Junior Camel Week attracts a big fleet of novice and more experienced sailors up to the age of 18. As well as competitive sailing over five days, there is a strong social programme with a barbecue and disco, a supper, beach games and much else to enjoy. Novice sailors join in with the main fleet but have a separate start and are carefully supervised at all times. There are two days devoted to race training for those being introduced to the sport.
