ADULT RACING IS FUN SKIING Skiing after work is fun. Rac-

ing under the lights with your friends is more fun. This year I raced on two teams.

On Monday night I joined a few friends, who are employees at Pats Peak, that were hoping to make finals night by including me in their points total. Their plan didn’t work, but we came close. I have no idea what our team

name really is but it sounds foreign and I try to believe it means fast turtles. We wear our fancy red fleece team vests so après in the pub we are among the best dressed. You’ll agree that it is always nice to look good even if your team isn’t on the first page of results. On Thursday nights, I race for

S&W Sports A. I like to think of ourselves as the up and coming (older) team. We were the first on Thursday nights, yeah team! We do have our share of really fast serious guys that continue to race Masters and success- fully get their names at the top

of the results each week! I get to join the S&W

Just another Thursday night of NASTAR at Pats Peak. We have fun!

Sports Team thanks to NASTAR results. To make a long story short, it is the ski version of golf handi- capping. I don’t get strokes but I get seconds! Being female and not so young I can often score more points than some of the young speed demons. The system works pretty well and I have a good chance but I am all over the place. Fast young racers often get the upper hand because they are more consistent in all types of race courses and weather conditions. But those of us that rely on the handicaps to help; we tend to have our best races on the less difficult courses and on nights when the conditions are perfect (reminds me of my golf game).
