Electrolysis Clinic

The only West of Scotland ‘Apilus® Platinum Pure’ provider.

What is electrolysis?

Electrolysis is the only FDA approved method of safe and permanent hair removal, first developed in 1875. The Apilus® system is the gold standard of electrolysis treatment.

Why choose Argyll Electrolysis? Electrologist Mairi Hawkes has over 17 years experience, and has been a member of the British Institute and Association of Electrolysis since 1993. The B.I.A.E credential signifies that the practitioner’s knowledge and skill has been tested and measured against a national standard of excellence. Membership guarantees ongoing education to enhance knowledge and skills, this is a must when looking for an electrologist.

What is Apilus®?

Apilus is computerised electrolysis the latest break though in permanent hair removal, providing state of the art technology. The Apilus Platinum Pure uses ultrarapid 27 MHz frequency to permanently and quickly destroy the hair root.

What the difference between traditional

electrolysis and Apilus? Apilus will remove hair permanently twice as fast as the traditional method, areas are cleared in 9-18 months instead of 2-3 years. Apilus is also much more comfortable with clients having longer sessions with very little skin reaction.

Laser/ipl versus electrolysis Laser/ipl is classed as permanent hair ‘reduction’ which is a very

grey area, results vary very much from person to person. A course of Laser/ipl is often recommended for larger areas such as back, arms and legs to reduce the amount and strength of hair before completing the treatment with electrolysis. Hormonal areas such as chin, neck, chest and thigh do not respond as well to laser, in fact women can be prone to ‘laser induced growth’ on the chin and neck. Electrolysis should always be the first resort for these areas. Mairi can give advice at the consultation about what method is best.

I feel embarrassed about my unwanted hair? Many clients have spent years tweezing, waxing, shaving or having poor electrolysis trying to remove unwanted hair, with even their nearest and dearest not knowing about the problem. Do not feel embarrassed, whether it is ‘fluff’ or strong dense hair, from upper lip, full face, and nipples to toes Mairi deals with these cases everyday and understands the effect it can have on your confidence. All treatments are confidential.
