orth Argyll is a stun- ning place to live and attracts many thousands of visitors each year who come to enjoy our beau- tiful scenery, our diverse wildlife and our fascinating heritage.
Sometimes those of us who live here forget to look around and enjoy it for ourselves. So a green challenge for March 2012 is to spend a little time each day just being a little more aware of the wonderful place - ing as taking a moment in a traf- the scenery beyond, think about the people who have lived and worked here before, or the wild- life that has survived through the winter and is getting busy for the spring.
There are lots of local groups who you can join to give you added value to a simple walk. Seil Natural History Group is a highly active collection who have local experts regularly doing visits and walks identi- fying species. All newcomers welcome. The various histori- cal groups in Appin and Lorn, have guided visits around the area which are a wonderful way to explore somewhere new or photography, art and walking groups who love meeting new people interested in their pas- sion.

For the more fuel, if you need to justify your enjoyment. We are surrounded by wild harvest sources and - with the right permissions - plenty of opportunities to collect up wood for next winter.
