for Best Play was written in response to Lorraine Hansberry’s playA Raisin in the Sun, portraying fictional events set before and after the play and loosely based on real life events. A black family wants to move into a white neighborhood in the late 1950s. The play brings a modern twist to the issues of discrimination by pitting race against real estate at the crux of two seminal events, 50 years apart in the same North Chicago house.
