The annual New Generations Competitions are well under way now. Young Photographer, Young Writer, Youth Speaks, Young Musician, and Young Citizen Awards 2012


The Rotary Youth Leadership Development Competition


All nine regional finals took place in November 2011. Thank you to those clubs who had to travel some distance to their regional final and to the clubs who hosted the regional finals.


The winnersʼ trip to Strasbourg is from Sun 12th February ‒ Sat 18th February 2012.The day at Euroscola is on Friday 17th February. Winners of Youth Leadership Competition are Zone 1. Young Chef

Aimed at 15 ‑ 17 year old budding Young Chefs interested in cooking. Depending on number of entries, club heats to be arranged. District final is on Sat 25th February 2012, (venue to be confirmed). Towers from Rotary Club of Galway runs this competition. A great competition for young people in three age categories, entrants are required to submit a written piece, varying in length depending on age. Poems are also accepted. Young Photographer


Rotarian Werner Scheel from Rotary club of Londonderry runs this competition. Another great competition for young people, run in three age categories, the theme is `Olympic Spirit` or `Olympic Dreams ` the same as Young Writer. In addition each entrant must provide , in no more than 50 words, a description of the inspiration for their photographs and how they reflect the theme. Youth Speaks


Rotarian Charles Gault from the Rotary Club of Belfast runs this competition This Competition offers young people the experience of speaking in public, as members of a team. Please encourage schools, colleges and youth groups to take part. Rotary Young Citizen Awards The Rotary Young Citizen Awards were conceived by RIBI in association with BBC News 24. This award recognizes young people under the age of 25, who have demonstrated their commitment to Citizenship working on projects in the community. It can be an individual or a group. 7 Youth Exchange


Rotarian Sam McCrea from the Rotary Club of Limavady looks after this programme The Youth Exchange team from RIBI visited our District in October 2011; they held three workshops in Cookstown, Athlone and Cork. They also gave presentations in the local schools, which were a great success. Over all the RIBI team, informed, motivated, inspired and created huge enthusiasm and interest amongst the Rotarians who attended these workshops. Thanks to everyone who helped with this visit, for the hospitality, accommodation provided for the RIBI team and to everyone who attended, your support is very much appreciated.


There have been over 40 applications of interest since the RIBI visit. Some exciting exchanges with work experience placements in other countries are being investigated at present. Northern Ireland Young Musician of the Year Competition


This annual music competition, now in its 20th year is run by the Rotary Club of Comber, contact Duggie Anderson, is open to all 12 ‑ 16 year olds playing a recognised musical instrument and to singers 12 ‑ 18 years of age living in Northern Ireland.
