TOURIST (Turist) (Swe-Ger-Den) Set at a ski resort, Tourist is a critical and humorous study of a family on holiday confronted with poten- tial catastrophe. Director Ruben Ostlund is known for his meticulously choreographed work. His short Incident By A Bank won the Golden Bear for best short at the 2010 Berlinale. His third feature, Play, premiered in Directors’ Fortnight at Cannes 2011. Tourist is produced by Plattform Produktion, with co-producers Essential Filmproduktion and the Coproduction Offi ce. The latter will handle sales. Budgeted at $3.5m (¤2.8m), Film i Vast is invest- ing $690,000 (¤540,000). The project seeks part- ners, funds, pre-sales and possible co-producers. THE WHITE BUFFALO (Kwai Puek) (Thai) Aditya Assarat’s debut feature Wonderful Town won a Tiger award at Rotterdam in 2008, while his follow-up Hi-So screened at Berlin, Busan and Tokyo. The White Buffalo is about a European man living in a village in north-east Thailand with a younger girl. The $635,000 (¤500,000) project is being produced by Pop Pictures Co and has $153,000 (¤120,000) in place. The partners attached include the Thailand Ministry of Culture, Red Snapper Films and White Light Co. A WORTHY COMPANION (Can) A Worthy Companion is the fi rst feature from sib- lings Carlos and Jason Sanchez, photography art- ists whose work has been exhibited throughout Canada, the US and Europe. They also directed the 2003 short fi lm Easter Party as well as music videos and commercial s. A Wor thy Companion tells the story of a 35-year-old man who abducts and imprisons a teenage girl. Pro- duced by micro_scope, the $3m (¤2.4m) project has $1m (¤800,000) in place, with backing from the Quebec Film Production Tax Credit and the Canadian Film Production Tax Credit.
