SNOW IN PARADISE (UK) The fi rst feature for Bafta-nominated fi lm editor Andrew Hulme, whose credits include Anton Corbijn’s Control and The American, Snow In Par- adise is a hard-hitting character study about a man who thrives on drugs and violence in Lon- don’s East End. When his actions lead to the death his best friend, he discovers Islam and begins to fi nd peace — until his old life of crime returns to haunt him. Produced by Ipso Facto Films, the project is budgeted at $1.2m (¤893,500), with $455,600 (¤357,000) in place. The project is seeking co-producers, sales agents, fi nanciers and distributors. THROUGH MY VEINS (Imi Curgi Prin Vine) (Rom) Romanian director Florin Serban won the Jury Grand Prix and the Alfred Bauer Prize at the 2010 Berlinale with his feature debut If I Want To Whis- tle, I Whistle. His second feature, Through My Veins, is a raw and twisted love story about a young amateur boxer from Romania who has an affair with a married woman. Produced by Ser- ban’s Fantascope, Through My Veins plans to shoot in May 2013. Budgeted at $1.6m (¤1.3m), it already has public support from the Romanian Film Centre. TRISTES MONROES (Port-Fr) Directors Gabriel Abrantes and Daniel Schmidt are screening Palacios De Pena at Rotterdam this year, and were in the festival last year with their short A History Of Mutual Respect. Tristes Monroes is the story of two Haitian girls, neighbours and lovers, who pretend to be orphans and run away from home. Budgeted at $2m (¤1.6m), the project has fi nancing of $1.6m (¤1.25m) in place and is looking for the remaining 22% of its budget. Tristes Monroes is produced by A Mutual Respect Produc- tions, Filmes do Tejo II and Les Films du Belier, with partners attached including the Instituto do Cinema, Audiovisual e Multimedia and RTP.
