is universally African. “In our own way, we are holding back the Western invasion of African minds,” says Nwagbogu. Bogobiri House started out as a small gift
shop in Nimbus Art Gallery, of which it is part and whose operators have almost 20 years’ experience. The idea of Bogobiri House came from the desire to have a place that would be open to all. “Basically, what you experience here is like utopia,” says Nwagbogu. “We are reaching out to a world beyond us with the ideal. Before you get here, you know that there is something African about where you are going. Your life will never be the same. I don’t think you could come here and easily forget that you were here. The Bogobiri experience stays with you forever.”
