Dear Fellow Travellers “ S

tate is the single most important skill in the world” – so says Buzz McCarthy in her article on p.5, Love stops

time and starts eternity. You know when you are ready

to hear something and it pops up everywhere? I’m sure you’ll relate to that. Well it’s happened heaps for me since I read Buzz’s words a month

or so ago. Of course I know that NLP people talk about the importance of state and changing state all the while, and I have a huge respect for that modality, as it very efficacious, but I suppose I have not been ready to work with changing my state at will until now. Oh yes, I put on a different CD when I want a different

mood. (Have you ever thought how lucky we are to be able to do that? We don’t have to go to a concert to change our moods.) I can wear a different outfit and use a different lipstick. In fact, if I wear quite high heels I usually feel much oomphier, and if I wear high-heeled boots, well look out! We all do that sort of thing, but that is changing the

state from the outside. I’ve been working with changing my state from the inside. By Buzz’s use of the word ‘skill’ it shows that we can learn it. It does not necessarily come with the basic model of human being, but we’re equipped with the necessary brain to learn it. Of course, as I was exploring changing state, I saw that

lots of the other articles in this issue also talk about state. Jenni Bethell tells us about the Fool archetype and exhorts us to use his qualities as we step into 2012 – yes, change your state to embrace those too. Many people in the feature, ‘The future we want’, also

recommend changing our state. All the healing articles do too, for what is healing other than changing state of being? And of course the shamanic articles – shamanism has made a bit of an impact in this issue too – they are right on about changing state. Stella Woods says, in her astrology article, “Always

remember that life is what you make it.” That truism also tells us to change our state by making it happen – oh golly, it’s been under our noses the whole time. Speaking of time, Junitta Vallak, a good woman I’ve

known for probably 25 years or more, and someone who influenced many of us in the early days of the consciousness movement in Australia, sent an email with a copy of a profound piece of writing which was narrated by Sir Laurence Olivier in a late 1980s musical called ‘Time’

and peformed in London. It was quite fashionable back then to play the recording at workshops and the likes. It’s certainly worth looking up on YouTube if you don’t know it – and see how good these words are: “Your life is an expression of your mind. You are a

creator of your own universe. For a human being you are free to will whatever state of being you desire through the use of your thoughts and words. “There is great power there. It can be a blessing or a

curse. “It is entirely up to you for the quality of your life is

brought about by the quality of your thinking – think about that.” Before we can change our state effectively, in my

opinion, we need to look at our ‘stuff’. Needless to say the whole magazine helps you with that – so many advertisers offer this, and again, it flows through heaps of the articles. Personally, I’ve been clearing ‘stuff’ for getting on to

three decades now, but it sure has accelerated in the last little while and I am pleased to look back at 2011 and see that I am not the same person that I was a year ago. Would you like to aim for that for this coming year? I’m up for another year of change, though I’d like to put in an order to have it a bit easier this year. ;-) Before I go, I must get you to read the article on p.10,

Conscious pro-creation. Yes, I know it is about having babies and maybe you’re a guy or you’re over that stage. However, this is astounding information. Ever wondered why there are lot more addicted people these days? Read the article to find out why. I have a bee in my bonnet. You might be able to share

something with me. I have a feeling LivingNow will be doing something quite big on manifestation and money soon. It has not really landed for me yet, but it’s there buzzing. If you have an article about manifesting or, even if you are not a writer, but want to share your story so that I could perhaps retell it for you, I’d love to have an email from you – editor@livingnow.com.au. (Note, however, that we no longer pay for submissions and that I don’t want a promotional piece.) My wish for you is to create the 2012 that you are

hanging out for. You and I are powerful beings. Let’s do it. With love,
