N

ovember is one of those months when I feel my wardrobe needs

a lift. It could be said that this is something I feel almost every month of the year, however now is the time to go and find a couple of items which will revive my rather tired favourites. This is a clever trick I picked up from a fashion friend. Her advice to invest in occasional exquisite high fashion pieces to keep the more mundane elements of a wardrobe look good was sound indeed. Also gives me the perfect excuse to go to Mode Mignon which is where all the Lucchese women (and men) with taste go. The Shop: Is within the walls of Lucca, smack in the centre and very surprising. I have grown used to small boutiques,

Mode Mignon however is reached via a beautiful stone stairway that sweeps you to two floors of pale wooden panels, beautiful airy rooms filled with row upon row of elegant clothes with shoes and bags to ensure the experience is holistic! Sales assistant: Anna Cecchini owns the shop - she started it some 40 years ago and there really is nothing she does not know about what will make a woman look stunning. She has a special knack for recognising if you want to just browse away and be left alone or if indeed you could do with a friendly hand. She also has two assistants who speak English if need be. Service: Unassuming is the word I would choose. When you first start up that imposing staircase you may feel a little daunted, but this is one place where you know you will be well looked after or allowed to muse to your heart’s content.

This is the one place you can come to pick up the investment purchase your

wardrobe (and you!) need.

Goods: Mode Mignon boasts the largest range of top fashion names under one roof. So really, that is as close as you can get to Heaven on earth! Value: There are permanent sales of last Season’s collections on the top floor, these are always worth checking out. Otherwise there is a wide range to choose from but this is quality which rarely comes cheap! Overall: This is the one place you can come to pick up the investment purchase your wardrobe (and you!) need. This is a shopping experience so enjoy every moment of it, you will feel quietly pampered. Top Tip: Go there with a friend, you are given plenty of time to try things on and talk about what works best with what. This is the sort of place where you return time and again - not always to buy - sometimes just to see what is in and get some inspiration!
