Ancon Building Products

Ancon is pleased to announce the launch of a new helical wall tie for use in timber frame construction. The TIM6 is a type six wall tie, suitable for fixing masonry cladding to timber frames up to four storeys in height. It is manufac- tured in four standard lengths to suit cavities from 50mm to 150mm. This tie is ideal for use where insulation is being incorporated within the cavity, as it accepts the Ancon universal insu- lation retaining clip. The TIM6 forms part of the Staifix-Thor Helical range of

hammer-driven fixings, supplied by Ancon; a range that also includes stain- less steel batten fixings for insulated roofs. The helix of these Ancon fixings has a precise pitch that cuts a consistent path as it is driven in to timber.

beyond green

Designed to be sensitive to the needs of the modern family, 1 Zero 4 is a living, breathing form, responsible in essence for water, power and energy.

Technology allows for minimising resources in some areas but having the capability to maximise in others. A home that creates and allocates accordingly with no waste. Hardwired for pure sustainability, cost efficiency and up to the minute

access to the latest ‘i’ applications. Completely measurable at the touch of a button, the house answers questions right down to how much rainwater has been harvested to how much solar energy has been generated. In short, LaROCK had been tasked to create a luxury eco home. 1 Zero

4 is a unique triumph of an excess of creativity and imagination in the mak- ing. Pushing boundaries, digging deeper, and a smarter application of advanced building techniques and seamless ‘anti-ageing’ technology.

Starting point Known for it's ambient beauty and vernacular architecture, Harrogate is home to 1 Zero 4, positioned on Leeds Road, one of the busiest roads into the centre of Harrogate. The three bedroom, single storey former cottage was built in the ‘60’s and occupied by the same resident for 30 years. The plot area has remained exactly the same as the former cottage. However, the property size has increased from 750 sq ft to 5,850 sq ft through strategic layering of floors and basement excavation, taking the structure from one storey to four storeys.

The scheme has been subject to two planning applications: 1. To work with planners to create a super modern home in the spa town of Harrogate.

2. Approval for an extensive excavation of the basement, creating the lower ground floor.

Sophisticated lighting design A specific lighting scheme has been chosen to maximise the intelligent systems integrated throughout the property. The lighting design and spec- ification, where possible, is LED chosen for low energy output with top performance results. Using LED combined with feature lighting allows the
